How can one get a cheap divorce? We have no children.

Aug 8, 2012 by

The least expensive way to get a divorce in your home state of Texas is to gather, prepare and file your own divorce paperwork with the court. If you and your spouse agree on the basic terms of the divorce and (as you said) there are no children or complicated issues involved, you should be able to wrap up the whole affiar for a few hundred dollars. You can speak to the Clerk of the Court in the county where you live to find out the documents you will need or you could go online and purchase Texas-specific divorce papers from one of the many legal forms companies available online. Make sure any legal forms firm you deal with guarantees the paperwork will be 100% complete and correct for the jurisdiction in which you reside and are filing in.

Since divorce laws in the U.S. are state-specific, the better online divorce services will offer guaranteed accurate state-specific forms and instructions instead of generic forms that may or may not be accepted in your jurisdiction. Online divorce services are not law firms however, and are prohibited by law from offering legal advice and cannot tell clients if they should get divorced. They are document preparation services that tell you how to get divorced. – The Team
