Question:

Why is it I am still in court with yet another lawyer trying to get what is rightfully ordered to me by the judge and my ex’s attorney now another trying to get the ruling reversed? (NY)

State:
New York

Answer:

While we are not exactly sure what the specific reason is that your ex’s attorney continues to contest your divorce in court, we can point out that contested divorces, especially those with attorneys on each side, are the most costly and longest lasting divorces. When two people cannot agree on the terms of a divorce agreement, the court will decide for you. But first the court must listen to every argument and angle that both parties introduce. The more disagreements there are, the more time (and money) you will spend in court. – The Divorce.com Team Wendy Jaffe and Divorce.com can only provide general information about divorce.
