Question:

How can I find out if someone is divorced? (IL)

State:
Illinois

Answer:

If you are trying to find out if someone you are not related to is divorced or not, you will have to know the county and court in which that person got divorced in. If you don’t know which court to search, you can hire an online records search company to perform the search for you. The cost of the online search service will probably be less than the gasoline you’ll use driving around to visit courthouses. Court divorce records are not sealed (unless ordered sealed by a judge) and the public is allowed to view them. Sometimes you may need to state a specific reason for your request, but usually not. There may be small fees involved, especially if you want hard copies of the divorce record. – The Divorce.com Team Wendy Jaffe and Divorce.com can only provide general information about divorce.
