Divorce Papers Accuse Nevada Governor of Infidelity
An affair with a Playboy model was one of the charges levied against Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons by his estranged wife Dawn. The accusation hit the news yesterday when the Washoe County Family Court unsealed the records on the case giving journalists plenty to talk about.
The divorce documents allege that Gibbons had two affairs, one with a former Playboy model and another with a women to whom he sent over 800 text messages.
Governor Gibbons says both women are “just friends” but he did reimburse the state $130 dollars for the cost of the text messages which were sent on a state issued phone.
The papers also reveal that Gibbons had asked his wife to move out of the governor’s mansion once he decided on going the divorce route but she refused. The documents state, “It was once said in another context that being in close quarters with such a volatile person was like being locked in a phone booth with an enraged ferret.”
The divorce papers also refer to a 2006 incident where a cocktail waitress accused Gibbons of threatening to rape her. The woman has filed a bevy of charges against the politician including second-degree kidnapping and battery.
