New Jersey

Answer:

It is regrettable that after 20 years of marriage, you feel betrayed by your spouse.  That really is terrible and we hope that you can find happiness in the near future.

Should you ultimately decide on divorce, New Jersey Code, Title 2A, Chapter 34, Article 1, #2 lists the causes for divorce.  In your situation, irreconcilable differences listed as cause of action (i) seems most appropriate.  Remember that a divorce is a civil action that requires filing in court, so we always recommend seeking a competent local attorney who is familiar with New Jersey laws and can guide you through the legal process.
