What is a Case Manager, CDS®?
A Case Manager is a dedicated divorce professional assigned to you to help reduce confusion as you go through your divorce. They are available via chat or scheduled check-ins and can answer general questions about the platform, the overall divorce process, and your specific forms and filing logistics. While they are trained on all aspects of the divorce process as a Certified Divorce Specialist, they are not lawyers and cannot give legal advice.
What is a Certified Divorce Specialist (CDS®)?
We understand the divorce process can feel overwhelming, which is why all Case Managers go through a rigorous training process to become a certified divorce professional to better serve you. The program is designed by an independent third party, who is part of the National Association of Divorce Professionals and focuses on the legal, financial, real estate and mental health aspects of divorce.
What is a Divorce Workshop?
The workshop can be used as a Q&A with your CDS®, or you can use it to do hands-on work with your questionnaire while your CDS® is present. Some example ways to use your workshop include: walking through resources that are commonly used to fill out the questionnaire (e.g. spousal support calculator or child support calculator), reviewing questions you have about the forms, or walking through the logistics of the filing process so you are better prepared. The CDS® is not a lawyer, and therefore, the workshop cannot be used to give legal advice.
Will my spouse need to be involved in the process?
Your spouse’s involvement will depend on your specific situation. You have the option to invite your spouse to the platform to review paperwork. You may also choose to invite your spouse to the workshop session hosted by your Case Manager to review your paperwork and ask questions jointly, but it is not required. Regardless of these decisions, your spouse will need to sign the paperwork in order for your divorce to get finalized.
